Frequently Asked Questions
1. Who is Link & Pin Hobbies? We are a Nevada corporation and have been serving hobbists since 1987, specializing in Dinosaurs, Science Fiction, Action Figures and Narrow Gauge Model Trains.
2. Do you have all of the items in your catalog in stock? Unlike many other shops, we try to keep all the items we advertise in stock. We have a better than 95% in stock ratio so most likely we'll have what you want.
3. How long will it be before I get my order? Since most items are in stock, a vast majority of orders are shipped the next business day. However, if the item is currently out of stock, we will order it. This usually takes about 10 days to arrive. How long until you receive it depends on several factors. If you mailed the order, it can take as much as a week for your payment to arrive here. After it is shipped by UPS (assuming you are in the lower 48 USA) it takes 5 to 7 days for delivery depending on your location.
4. Can I upgrade to faster shipping? Of course, however our basic shipping charge covers UPS ground service. Faster shipping options will be billed at higher rates. If you prefer USPS shipping, it is available at cost, with a minimum charge as listed on the How to Order page
5. Can you get items not in the catalog? Maybe. Email and ask.
6. Why do you charge postage? Every store charges postage even if it isn't listed. Shipping is a part of the cost of the item. If a store does not charge a separate shipping charge they are either adding it to each and every item by raising the price to compensate. We feel it is fairer to let you know what you are paying rather than hiding this cost.
7. What about tax? If you are a Nevada resident, by law, we must collect the sales tax. If you are purchasing for a Nevada tax exempt organization, please include your Tax Exempt Number with your order. Out of state residents of the USA should check local statutes. At this time we do not collect sales tax from non Nevada residents.
8. Do you accepts trades on merchandise? Sometimes we do, however you must contact us before you ship anything to us! You must also include return postage in the case that we are not satisfied with the items. Usually we will only accept back items that were originally purchased from us and are in "as new" condition. Again, ask first.
9. I can't find any pictures of the items I want, where are they? There are over 1500 photos of in stock items scattered throughout the website. Look for item names that are UNDERLINED. Click on the UNDERLINED items to display a photo. If the item is not underlined, we have not been able to find a photo. We are always adding photos, so keep checking.
10. If there isn't any picture available, does that mean the item is out of stock? No, if there is no picture it means we don't have a picture of that item, yet. We have over 95% in stock fill rate on the items we list. The website is updated at least once a week and should be current. Sometimes we goof, but not very often.
11. Some of your pictures show more than one item. If I purchase one of these items, do I get all the other items in the picture for free? No, you don't! This may seem silly but we did have one lady quite angry because she thought she should have received everything in the picture even though she only ordered and paid for one item. The pictures are there for reference only so you can see what an item looks like. If all the items are included, the catalog entry will be marked "set". If you're not sure, ask!
12. What do these abbreviations
mean that are in the website? We use very
few abbreviations but here are some that we've been asked about: TBA
means "To Be Announced" TOS
means "Temporarily Out of Stock" OSP
means "Oversize Package"
and that the item is considered oversize by UPS and shipping will be higher
than our standard rates.
If there are any others, ask and we'll add them to this answer.
13. When can I place an order? If you order by email, fax or snail mail (USPS); you can order anytime you want. If you call, please remember the time zone! Our store telephone is call forwarded to our home after hours. Our local time is Pacific Time. This is 3 hours earlier than East Coast Time and 8 hours earlier than London. If you call us at 4 am our time, your order may not get processed properly. Our normal store hours are 10 am to 5 pm Pacific Time.
